Specialized, private care for pelvic health
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support your bladder, bowel and reproductive organs. When these muscles are weak, tight or uncoordinated, it can lead to leaks, pain or pressure that affects daily life. Pelvic floor therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that addresses these problems directly, in a private and respectful setting.
Conditions we treat
- Urinary leaking, urgency or frequency
- Pelvic pain and pain with intercourse
- Pregnancy-related and postpartum recovery, including diastasis recti
- Pelvic organ prolapse symptoms
- Constipation and bowel control issues
- Tailbone and hip pain linked to the pelvic floor
How we treat it
Your plan may include strengthening or relaxation exercises, manual therapy, breathing and core work, biofeedback, electrical stimulation and practical lifestyle changes. Your therapist will also look at posture, hip and core function, since they affect how the pelvic floor works.
What to expect at your first visit
Your first visit is a one-on-one conversation about your history and symptoms, followed by an assessment. An internal exam is sometimes helpful, but it is always optional and only done with your consent. You'll leave with a plan built around your goals.
Frequently asked questions
How long does pelvic floor therapy take to work?
Many patients notice changes within two to four weeks of consistent sessions. The full length of care depends on your symptoms and goals.
Is pelvic floor therapy only for women?
No. Men also benefit from pelvic floor therapy, for example for pelvic pain or bladder control after prostate surgery.
